I can't really rate the Walk, since I am a staff member at the Avon Foundation, I'm sure I'd be a bit biased! :)

Doris, we'd like to thank YOU for walking this weekend and for being so commited to the fight against breast cancer! We are happy to know that you had a good experience with us. Our staff down in DC is second to none! We hope you'll register for our 2007 Walk!

See you out there next year and let's all hope the weather is as nice then as it was this past weekend! Joan

Doris is one of my best friends and we did the walk together this weekend. It was the first time for both of us and I agree with everything she said. For 2500 people being there you never would have known it. The crew was phenomenal and always so friendly. The motorcycle crew was the best ever. They kept us going at every intersection from passing out tattoos or stickers to playing music for us to boogie to I couldn't have asked for a better group of people. I think we probably only had to wait for the bathroom a couple of times and waiting for the shower was like hanging out with old friends. I'm still nursing my sore feet and blisters but its a battle scar I will never forget. I'm ready to do it with you again Dory! We laughed, sang and cried because lord knows we couldn't sleep with those $10 sleeping bags and the 30 degree weather!! It was something I will never forget and I know my grandmother (who I was walking for) would have been really proud of me. Thanks to Avon and all of the amazing women and men who made this weekend one of the best of my life!

My sister and I walked for one of our other sisters in DC.This was also our first time. We were amazed on how organized everything was, from the moment you checked in to the closing ceremony. We were truly touched by this sentimental weekend that we decided to walk in Chicago. However, we did cheat and spent Sat. night in a hotel, but our next walk we are sleeping out to get the whole feeling. My recommendation for a blister-free walk are Thorlo walking socks#3, they were the best! I look forward to doing this every year until I can't anymore>Thanks for a wonderful weekend!!!!

I learned a few important rules about the AWBC.

(1) Never pass a water station without filling out.
(2) As a consequence of (1), never pass a port a pot without using it.
(3) Thirty nine miles is a LONG way. But worth it.

I have to admit that I still have an injury, and my doctor yelled at me for going past hurt and into injured, but how could I stop? There was too much warmth, too much support. I'll heal in time. The feeling of finishing the walk will never go away.

The only bummer is no photo. I wish I'd have thought to have asked someone to take a picture of me as I finished. Next year, I'll know better. And there *will* be a next year!

Thanks to all of you!

This was my third walk (Boston) and it was the best one so far! I love being part of such a caring and compassionate group of people. I can't wait for my next walk, but I have a little of a dilemma (though a happy one!) that I'm hoping with a little advice from other walkers, maybe I can make it to the 2007 walk. I did the 2006 walk two months pregnant! My concern is that next year I'll be nursing and won't be able to spend 2 days away from my baby. Has anyone else gone through this and how did you handle it? I'm hoping I won't have to miss the '07 walk, but I will definitely still be there in some form, be it a cheerleader or walker. If anyone has any advice on how to participate as a walker while nursing, PLEASE email me at hazhag@hotmail.com! Thanks!

What an incredible experience-this was our 2nd year (Boston) and have already registered for May 2007 - and also hope to make the minimum to do Los Angeles this September - What an incredible group of people-staff, volunteers, crew and the more than 2600+ who walked-yes 39.5 is a long way-but each time you think you can't take another step-you simply remember what those have gone to who we are walking for and your inner strength gets you thru-We will do this every year until we are no longer needed-and we all pray that will be soon. Until then, thank you to everyone (especially the men with heart) who are absolute wonders!!!

My second year walking but this will not be my last. Yes, 39.3 miles is a LONG way, however worth every step. You get an inner satisfaction knowing that the little bit we are doing, when combined with thousands of others makes a DIFFERENCE! The staff, crew and other walkers make this an indescribable experience that absolutely cannot be put into words! The only way to get others to understand is to "walk the walk" or become part of the Avon foundation! I would like to thank the staff and crew, you are remarkable people and thanks for the laughs. If you are feeling like you've had enough there is always someone somewhere that gives you the little bit of encouragement that you need to keep going. My thanks to the inventor of the BOOBMBILE, now that is a memory that I will never forget! I look forward to seeing you all again next year!

Thanks again,
Corrine

It is now one week since we all descended on the HIlton in Chiago for our 2006 Walk. I am still on a high from the phenomenal weekend we had and also am loving every minute of now reliving the weekend through the pictures on Multiply's website. I am a Crew Team Leader and spend the entire weekend at Wellness Village, so getting to view the photos from the route, of Walkers and the Crew's that set up Rest Stops/Quick Stops and that absolutely great Motot Crew is wonderful. For all you Chicago Walkers, you are an amazing group of people, for all you Chicago Crew, YOU ARE AWESOME.! We made it through once again and I am already looking forward to working with all of you again in 2007. My biggest shout out goes to the Staff of the Chicago Avon Office, along with those out-of-town Avon Staff that were with us all weekend:YOU ARE ALL THE BEST! Your constant support for our Crew and willingness to help diffuse every "situation" that arises is so appreciated. We love working with you and are sad that we'll have to wait until next year to see you again.
You ALL, have a very special place in my heart. The bond that has developed betweeen those of us who go through Walk Weekend together is something that cannot be broken!.
My very best to all of you and GOOD LUCK to our Chicago Crew for a Cure in San Francisco in July. My spirit is right there with you!

This was my third Avon walk--the first one in 2002--60 miles-- one year after mastectomy, chemo, and reconstruction. It is one of the most fabulous, meaningful things I do. As a survivor, I feel it is so important to do whatever we can to make sure our numbers grow each year. In the last year, I lost 2 friends to breast cancer---and 4 diagnosed, being treated. Our group--THE COSMO GIRLS (and one boy :-) )--did you see us???? was comprised of three survivors, 3 women who have lost sisters, and 5 with friends with cancer. WE MUST WALK!!!
THANK YOU, AVON FOR GIVING US THIS OPPORTUNITY!!!
